This is my first Gerstner, ca.1940s/50s. I found it on Marketplace in the Detroit area and couldn’t pass up the deal. Complete case, though i believe the front cover is from a later O52. I was going to clean it and repair the veneer only, to keep the history, but the water damage to the finish was too extreme. I ended up stripping, sanding, and refinishing the carcass only (drawers maintained the original finish and patina minus some light cleaning). The handle was in “poor condition, but salvageable” as Terry Rushbrook put it, so i sent it off to him to be re-covered.

I polished the hardware (all original, except for the split rivets..thanks again Terry for the period correct domed-head), re-glued all of the de-laminated veneer and re-felted everything.

it now sits proudly in my garage/shop. Let me know what you think!!
