Beautifully crafted piece is a tribute to the company’s founding and the early 1900s when Harry Gerstner, the company’s founder, began crafting his iconic chests. Harry’s father, Herman Gerstner, made his living as a cooper, constructing whiskey barrels out of quarter-sawn white oak. For his first chests, Harry used the excess lumber from his father’s cooperage.

The Cooper’s Legacy chest draws its inspiration from the quarter-sawn, white oak whiskey barrels. We use precision routers to cut each drawer front from a solid piece of hardwood, which will not lose its shape over time. The end result is a well-crafted, classic piece that’s ideal for use as a dresser or jewelry box. The four, felt-lined drawers are perfect for holding necklaces, watches, pens, and other accessories. With its fine craftsmanship and classic beauty, the Cooper’s Legacy 4-Drawer Chest will stand the test of time.

A “Factory Retouched” chest, often referred to as a “Second Class or 2nd Class” may have a slight blemish in the finish, a repaired glue joint or contain a piece of hardwood or veneer that has a minor defect – none of which are enough to affect the operation or durability of the chest itself. All “2nd Class” chests are shipped with a 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee from H. Gerstner & Sons factory in Dayton, Ohio. All 2nd Class items have been packaged for shipping and we do not track or note what was retouched on each individual chest.
