This version of our Coopers Legacy chest is tall, with seven drawers for the expanding accessory collection. It is a gracefully designed case for the dresser or desk, suitable for your best watches and jewelry.
We drew inspiration for this chest from the history of our founder. Harry Gerstner’s very first chests were actually constructed from the offal (excess lumber) from the cooperage his father, Herman, worked for. Herman made his living crafting whiskey barrels from quarter-sawn white oak—the hardwood we use to this day.
The handsome curved front of our Coopers Legacy takes its inspiration from those whiskey barrels. However, today we use precision routers instead of a drawknife to cut each drawer front from a solid piece of hardwood, which will not lose its shape with time. What hasn’t changed is Gerstner quality, craftsmanship and heritage into each chest, that’s our Coopers Legacy.
Second Class Products
A “Factory Retouched” chest, often referred to as a “Second Class or 2nd Class” may have a slight blemish in the finish, a repaired glue joint or contain a piece of hardwood or veneer that has a minor defect – none of which are enough to affect the operation or durability of the chest itself.
All “2nd Class” chests are shipped with a 30-day Satisfaction Guarantee from H. Gerstner & Sons factory in Dayton, Ohio.
All 2nd Class items have been packaged for shipping and we do not track or note what was retouched on each individual chest.
