Description
An elegant wooden chest often used as a dresser or jewelry box. From necklaces to watches to pens, this is the case for your most precious accessories. It’s a design that digs deep into the origins of Gerstner, specifically into the history of our company’s founder.
The stylish Coopers Legacy chest is a tribute to the first Gerstner chests made in the early 1900s. Herman Gerstner, the father of company founder Harry Gerstner, was a cooper (barrel maker,) and made his living making whiskey barrels out of quarter-sawn white oak; the very same hardwood we use in building many of our chests today. In fact, Harry constructed his first chests from the “offal” (excess lumber) from the cooperage.
Drawing inspiration from the quarter-sawn white oak whiskey barrels, today we use precision routers instead of a drawknife to cut each drawer front from a solid piece of hardwood, which will not lose its shape with time, and we still add 107 years of Gerstner quality, craftsmanship and heritage into each piece.
